Who is Jesus to you? As you think, I put another paper in foe you and your parent(s) to read and pray together about the ministry future.
In the early ‘50s, jazz musician Alfred Burt wrote a song, “Some Children See Him.” It says people can imagine Him physically in many ways – usually based on how they appear. But, what matters is if He is your Saviour.
We can look at ir another way, too. Who are you to Him?
People sometimes say what they think is normal even if it doesn't fit. I not only repeat if someone says Happy Thanksgiving, Happy 4th of July, etc., I repeat Happy birthday or say "you, too" back to people at times. It's like a kid saying "It's just what I wanted" before they realize they also need to ask, What is it?" Do you have a favorite funny thing you or a family member said at Christmas?
That kid who asks what a gift is might really want that whatever, and just not know it's just what they want or need, of course. But, think how that relates to the gift of Jesus which God gave us. Ìt is just what we needed.
Our sin nature means we can't get to Heaven on our own. As hard as we try, we can’t be perfect – but Jesus is God in flesh. So, He3 never sinned. God had to come down a live a perfect life so He could die in our place. Of course, we don't always think about the depths of our sin, but that's something we understand as we grow in Christ. But to trust Jesus to save you, you at least need to accept you need a Saviour.
Some don't realize they need that gift. So, we must be ready to share the Gospel. It won’t take much to show someone they’re not perfect – we’ve all lied, been selfish, disobeyed the rules, etc.. But, we need to say we’re not either, as we’ve discussed. It’s kind of like when you hear “what is it,” and you explain how you used that whatever and it was great, so you know the other person will like it, too.
This leads to the fact it must be received by faith. It’s like opening a gift. It does no good sitting around wrapped. Once you open it, you have it. Sure, you can put it in a closet. You’ll still have it, you just won’t be getting your full use out of it.
So, make sure you’ve received that gift, and if not, ask yourself what’s stopping you? Do you have questions? You can always e-mail or call. God oves you and wants you to know His wonderful salvation, just as He does all of us. It’s as easy ask calling on Jesus and receiving what He did on the cross as taking the penalty for your sins, that He died for you and rose again, and inviting Him into your heart to make you new inside and save and cleanse you, so you can follow Him. All who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
