Sanctification, God's Handiwork in You

Do you like baseball? Carlos Rondon isn’t a household name even if you do. But, he nearly threw a perfect game weeks ago. He hit a batter, who then got to go to first.

Why am I starting with baseball news? Because as we move forward in our walk with God, we need to tell others about Him. And, one way to do that is through illustrations; stories or facts or other things that can explain Bible truths

James 2:10 says, “If any man shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” If a person steals something, they can’t go tell the judge, “I didn’t kill anyone, so I’m okay.” The judge will say, “So what, you still broke the law by stealing.” That person is guilty of breaking the law, even if it’s just one part.

Remember, Matt. 5:48 says “Be ye perfect, even as My Father in Heaven is perfect.” The standard for Heaven is perfection. Now, some might say, “How can we get there then?” Then you can say, “That’s why Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead.”

Remember, Heaven must be perfect. If there is any sin there, it’d cause suffering, pain, etc.. Not only will nothing get old in Heaven, nothing will get stolen, noone will be hurt, etc.. It will be impossible to sin in Heaven. All there will have trusted Jesus to save them from their sin & make them new inside, or will have died before being able to understand their need for the Saviour; then, they’re covered by Jesus’ blood. When one makes a heart/mind decision to trust Jesus to save them, they turn from their sin & God comes to live in them.

I used that baseball story, among others, as Sal and I taught this past Thursday. 4 kids were there with 2 salvations, maybe 3 if the 5YO understood, and one who wasn’t sure so they prayed to get saved, but it was more for assurance. Also, kids got saved at the Missions Conference; I got to lead 2 girls in the sinners’ prayer. All these people, if they truly made heart/mind decisions, are now sure of going to Heaven.

We don’t become perfect right away because we still have our sin nature. But, God is always working to complete the work He began in us, as Phil. 1:6 shows. In Heaven we’ll have new bodies that won’t be able to sin.

The devil likes to counterfeit things, though. This is where we must be wise enough to know what is real and what is counterfeit.

Think about your unique fingerprints, for instance. Even more, the unique way our blood vessels and everything else are put together – you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. That’s why biometric technology is neat; it lets your unique imprint be used to say who you are. But, the devil wants to counterfeit it, too.

In Rev. 13, the Bible says the antichrist and false prophet will cause people to receive a mark int heir right hand or forehead. But, that’s not necessary – we each have a unique imprint that God gave us. God caused us to receive it when we were born.

That’s why it’s so important to realize – however you think He did it – that God made you special and you are His fabulous creation. When you do, it will be harder to fall for the devil’s lies; the devil wants you to think you’re an accident. But, you’re not an accident. You are here for a very special purpose to be a blessing to others.

All the things I’ve shared are simple ways to bring the conversation to Jesus salvation, etc.. You might think of others.  But, people need to see you living a Godly life so they believe it. When we mess up, we should apologize quickly and make things right. It also involves prayer – wil you pray this week during the National Day of Prayer?

Keep going forward in your walk with God and praying over those prayer needs. Pray especially for a preteen - maybe teen by now - girl, Anna, whose parents (in early '21) won’t let her go to camp saying it’s too far. They are atheists. We’re praying hard God breaks through & she gets saved. Thanks.
